With just a month left before the pullout from Gaza and parts of the West Bank is scheduled to begin, the Disengagement Authority has received only some 350 requests for temporary housing from settler families slated for evacuation, which total some 1,700.
Moreover, some 240 settler families from Gaza and some 140 from the West Bank have filed claims for compensation in the framework of the Evacuation-Compensation Law.
Recently the Disengagement Authority advertised July 10 as being the deadline for the submission of temporary housing requests. In a bid to encourage settlers to complete the process, the Disengagement Authority said temporary housing units would be reserved only for settler families who would submit their compensation claims by Wednesday.
The linkage of requests for temporary housing with compensation claims is aimed at determining the seriousness of the settler families to evacuate when the moment of truth comes.
The temporary housing sites that have been offered to the settlers are located in Nitzan, Miflasim, and Karmiya.
