Teachers will start Tuesday's school day two hours late to protest Education Minister Limor Livnat's decision to go ahead with a reform plan spelled out in the Dovrat Report.
The strike will take place in the grade schools of the 32 communities to be first affected by the reform. Classes will start at 10:00 a.m., instead of 8:00 a.m., but special education programs will continue as normal.
Monday afternoon, Livnat held a press conference in which she presented her plan to finish the first phase of the Dovrat Report, which will cost a total of NIS 120 million (USD 27.7 million).
Livnat said that 32 communities in which the reform will first take place have already to go along with it. The reform includes shifting to five full days of school, adding nine hours to the school week.
In the last few months, teachers have been trying to prevent the firing of 2,000 of their colleagues.
