TEL AVIV – An Israeli woman who was indicted last year for allegedly aiding Palestinian terrorists was charged on Thursday with calling a wanted West Bank terror suspect to warn him about plans by the army to detain him.

A Tel Aviv court ordered the additional charge by recommendation of the prosecutor, who noted the Shin Bet security service said Tali Fahima called a terrorist from the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades near the West Bank town of Jenin to report army activity in the area.

Her attorney, Smadar Ben-Natan, told the court that she opposed the extra charge. Fahima herself never sounded any objections to it.

She is charged with aiding an enemy during wartime and passing on information, establishing contacts with foreign agents, possession of unauthorized weapons, supporting terror groups and disobeyed legal orders.

Fahima is also accused of staying in Jenin despite a restraining order while accompanying local al-Aqsa commander Zakariya al-Zubeidi.

'Human shield'

Fahima has told the press she plans to act as a “human shield” to the terrorist leader, who has been on Israel’s wanted list for years, to stop Israeli security forces from acting against him.

The prosecutor said Fahima committed such acts with the knowledge that al-Aqsa planned and carried out attacks that killed innocent people.

”The defendant is acquainted with known terror agents and has declared her intentions to act as Zubeidi’s ‘human shield,’ an act that is meant to hinder attempts by security forces to capture him.”
