Pakistan on Monday urged India to agree to a mutual troop withdrawal from the Siachen Glacier, a day after India's prime minister said he wanted to turn the disputed area into a "mountain of peace."
When the Line of Control, a cease-fire line that divides Kashmir between India and Pakistan, was set by the two countries after a 1971 war, it did not extend to the glacier because it was considered uninhabitable. However, Indian moved troops into Siachen in 1983. (AP)
