Due to a series of arrests in the Bethlehem and greater Jerusalem area, security managed to foil a suicide bombing designated for the Ramot neighborhood of Jerusalem in the beginning of June.
The Stage bombing
Security services arrested five senior members of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), responsible for the February suicide bombing at the Tel Aviv nightclub The Stage. Five Israelis were killed in the attack.
The Shin Bet, IDF, police and undercover unit of the Border Police all had a role in the arrest.
The captured terrorists admitted during interrogation that they had twice tried to infiltrate suicide bombers from the northern West Bank into Israel. Following the arrests, a search of Beit Hanina, a Palestinian village north of Jerusalem, turned up knapsacks filled with explosives.
Nevertheless, the Palestinian Authority recently released from jail two PIJ terrorists connected with The Stage bombing.
