What email message did Bashar Assad send to his wife? Ask Israeli intelligence.

According to British media reports, Israeli intelligence follow the email traffic of Asma Assad, wife of the Syrian president, to gain as much information on her husband as possible.

The Syrian presidential couple, claimed "The Sunday Times" and Arabic-language "al-Quds al-Arabi," is a high priority target for Israeli intelligence, and Assad’s passion for computers just helps along the surveillance.

Asma studied in London’s Kings College and spent hours online staying in touch with her family. The president, by contrast, was reportedly aware he was being tracked and even complained to European officials about it.

According to the sources, wives of leaders are preferred targets for surveillance because the personal computers of leaders are known for their defense systems, while their wives' hardware is more vulnerable.

The journalists who reported the story said Israeli sources confirmed the report, but said that nothing found in Asma Assad’s email was of any value.
