U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is expected to visit Israel and the Palestinian Authority in about two weeks, a senior American official said.
The official estimated the visit’s purpose is to examine whether Palestinian security forces will be ready to assume control over areas to be evacuated by Israel in the framework of the upcoming Gaza Strip and northern West Bank withdrawal. (Reuters)
