HEBRON - IDF troops shot and killed a Palestinian in the West Bank town of Hebron Sunday, after he attempted to stab a soldier.
Security officials reported the Palestinian ran towards an IDF post at a Hebron intersection holding a knife and shouting "I'm going to kill you."
The soldiers called on him to stop and also fired one warning shot in the air. When the suspect failed to adhere to the soldiers orders, they shot and severely injured him.
The man subsequently died from his injuries. No IDF soldiers were injured in the incident.
Palestinians: Man killed by IDF did not assault troops
However, Palestinian sources in Hebron said the man killed by soldiers attempted to bypass an army roadblock at the time of the shooting and did not try to stab soldiers.
The man was identified as Omar Khushia, 28, a resident of a village near Hebron. His relatives said he was not a member of any terrorist organization.
Qassam rockets fired again
In a separate incident on Saturday, IDF soldiers shot and killed a Palestinian and injured two others, after the three opened fire at troops near Kfar Arava in the Jenin area. The wounded Palestinians were transported to an Israeli hospital in Hadera for medical assistance.
No IDF soldiers were wounded in this incident.
In addition, IDF soldiers and Palestinian Authority security forces collaborated after an Israeli citizen entered the PA-controlled city of Jericho. The Palestinian security forces transferred her to the IDF, who handed her over to the police for questioning.
Meanwhile, Palestinians fired a mortar shell at Gush Katif settlements in the Gaza Strip, and two Qassam rockets were fired at Sderot. No injuries were reported in the incidents.
