Vice Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Sunday that Israel is willing to give up control of the Rafah crossing in Gaza to the Egyptians, but he said it would prevent the reopening of the airport in Gaza.
Palestinian Civil Affairs Minister Mohammed Dahlan welcomed Olmert's remarks: "If they give it to Egypt, we welcome that... What's important is that we don't see an Israeli soldier there who would control of the lives of 1.3 million Palestinians in Gaza." (AP)
