Vandals wasted no time in defacing Germany's new national Holocaust memorial. Soon after the monument opened to the public, a vandal scratched a swastika into one of the 2,711 gray slabs. The graffiti was quickly removed, though the vandal was not caught. "What can we do?" said spokesman Uwe Neumaerker. "You can't be everywhere at once."
